I designed the myNhaka app to be user-friendly for first-time insurance clients.

The Challenge

My goal was to design a user-friendly app for Nhaka's retail clients with no prior experience with insurance or financial services, making the onboarding process, benefit options, and payouts easy and clear.

The Design —

Central Navigation Hub

I designed the home screen of the myNhaka app with a clean layout and easy navigation, making it user-friendly for newcomers.

Streamlined Onboarding

I designed the onboarding process in three intuitive steps:

  • Personal Details: Users enter their basic information to start.
  • Trusted Family Members: Users add family members who will be part of their policy.
  • Payout Preferences: Users choose how benefits will be distributed (cash or groceries) and to whom in the event of their death.

Flexible Benefit Top-Up

An intuitive screen allowing users to increase their return benefits by topping up small amounts, encouraging policyholders to remain engaged with their policy.

Simplified Claims Process

Family members can claim benefits by entering the policy number and submitting proof of identity and proof of death, making it easy to access payouts when needed.

Outcome

The design prioritizes simplicity and trust, focusing on user experience. It handles complex topics like death benefits and payout options clearly and simply. The final product is a trustworthy, approachable solution for first-time insurance clients.

This project provided me with valuable experience in designing for first-time users, balancing trustworthiness and ease of use while simplifying complex processes such as benefit management and family involvement in life insurance claims.
